We've gotten a few emails the past few days about the current situation in Thailand. (Airport in Bangkok currently closed due to protesters etc.)Here is one of the better links explaining the political situation.

If your confused about what you see on news regarding all this, don't feel bad. I think everyone is confused.
As for us, and where we are headed, it's waaay Northeast of Bangkok. Reminds me of growing up in NY. You say "NY" and everyone thinks NYC. My typical response is "eh, no, the other NY" (Adirondack Mts.) Same with Thailand... I'd love to say we'll be by nice tropical beaches, but alas..that's the other Thailand.
